Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche is the founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), and the source of all the teachings given at the Canadian National Festival. A fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism, he has published a series of remarkable books on Buddhism and meditation, trained hundreds of qualified teachers, and is primarily responsible for the worldwide revival of Kadampa Buddhism.
Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab is a retired General Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT-IKBU), he has trained closely with Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over thirty-five years. Gen-la Khyenrab is an internationally renowned teacher and English Buddhist monk who is greatly admired for his powerful teachings as well as his pure example of humility and loving-kindness. Gen-la is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada and the NKT National Spiritual Director for Canada.
Gen Kelsang Delek will guide the Saturday morning meditation. She is the Resident Teacher of KMC Fraser Valley in British Columbia. Her extensive experience and excellent example are well appreciated by her students. With her practical approach and clear explanations of even the most profound of Buddha’s teachings, Gen Delek inspires us to put Dharma into practice in our daily lives.
Gen Kelsang Chögyan will be guiding the retreat during Festival. She is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Montreal. She has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for over 20 years. She is constantly encouraging us through her sincere example, her deep faith and her great ability to transform all situations in an occasion to progress on the path. Her joy, energy and enthusiasm inspire us to put Buddha’s teachings into practice and to experience their many benefits in our daily life.
Kelsang Chöyang will guide the Sunday morning meditation. She is the Resident Teacher at Joyful Land Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. She has studied under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over twenty years, and taught in British Columbia and California before coming to Ottawa. Kelsang Chöyang is known for her sincere & practical approach to integrating Buddhism into daily life. Her teachings are powerful and inspiring.
